The Multicultural Student Services (MSS) office has several need-based scholarship options to assist domestic students from diverse cultural backgrounds and operates on a continuous funding cycle, depending on available funding.
MSS Advisors work with students to assess fit for one of the following funding opportunities:
- MSS Need-Based
- Experiential Learning (ELS)/Study Abroad
- Native American Funding
- SOAR Scholarship
How to apply for the MSS scholarship
If you would like to be considered for the MSS scholarship, follow these steps:
- Schedule an Appointment
Make an Appointment with your assigned MSS advisor. Click HERE for a complete list of advisors and their assigned student queues. - Complete your FAFSA
You must have a completed FAFSA for the academic year you’re applying for. For any questions or concerns about FAFSA eligibility, please reach out to your MSS advisor. - Meet with your MSS advisor
Your advisor will walk you through the scholarship process, required forms, and expectations. - Complete the Required Forms
Complete your Graduation Plan and MSS Scholarship forms as part of your petition. - Final Review with Your MSS Advisor
Meet with your MSS advisor to review your completed forms for your petition to be considered. If needed, additional meetings or reviews may be required to ensure everything is complete and accurate.
Notification Timeline for the MSS scholarship
Scholarship petitions are typically reviewed at the end of each month. However, processing time may vary depending on the number of scholarship petitions received. Be sure to check your BYU email for scholarship notifications.
