Personal Bio:
Lynette Simmons is an advisor in Multicultural Student Services (MSS) at Brigham Young University.
Her college student experiences included working part-time on campus, completing an extra-major skill in piano performance, and writing a thesis about the satisfaction of family members within multigenerational households. She completed bachelor’s and master’s degrees at BYU while working full-time.
Working for the Executive Assistant to the President, Assistant Student Life Vice President and Dean of Students provided Lynette valuable opportunities to learn about BYU’s rich legacy, the many campus resources available to students, and how to collaborate with others across campus to support student success.
In the MSS Office, Lynette has been involved supervising the Eagle’s Eye magazine student staff, serving on committees, helping with New Student Orientation, and focusing on advising. As a first-generation college student herself, she knows that college is sometimes overwhelming, confusing, or lonely but it can also be filled with excitement, opportunity, and joy. Lynette is motivated to help students she advises find the supports and resources they need for a rewarding BYU journey.
Lynette enjoys the arts, playing the pipe organ, attending the Temple, and exploring family history.
