SOAR 2010 Program Dates
- Session #1 June 21-26
- Session #2 June 28-July 3
- Session #3 July 12-17

SOAR Qualifications
- Have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.2 (unweighted), including grades 9-11
- Be a high school junior during 2009-2010 school year
- Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Come from a multicultural background or demonstrate a strong fit within the BYU University Statement on Fostering an Enriched Environment.
SOAR Fee
The cost for SOAR is $350. This fee covers residence hall housing, all meals, ACT test and manual, all academic materials, all activities, and SOAR T-shirt. Need-based scholarships are available.
Scholarships
Need-based tuition and travel scholarships are available.
- Tuition scholarships cover $300 of the SOAR fee.
- If a scholarship is awarded, the student is responsible for the remaining $50.
- Depending on the distance, travel scholarships reimburse for up to $300 of approved travel expenses.
Requirements for scholarships include:
- Documentation of Free or Reduced Lunch participation
OR
- Extenuating financial circumstances
- (Travel Scholarship #1 - up to $225) Live 750-1400 miles from BYU
- (Travel Scholarship #2 - up to $300) Live 1400+ miles from BYU
Insurance
It is recommended that all SOAR participants have adequate insurance should an accident happen during SOAR. Although all precautions are taken to ensure the safety of each SOAR participant, BYU is not liable for any accidents that might occur.
Special Accommodations
We are committed to providing a learning atmosphere which reasonably accommodates persons with disabilities who are otherwise qualified for admission to the SOAR program. Prior to registration, applicants with disabilities are invited to discuss the program content and available facilities with the program director. Unfortunately, we are unable to make any special accommodations for the ACT test.
