College Preparation Programs

 College Preparation Programs Mission

BYU Multicultural Student Services college preparation programs identify and educate prospective students who will utilize their “various talents and backgrounds, including geographic, educational, cultural, ethnic and racial”1 to enrich their family, community, professional, church and educational environment. We support parents as well as educational and community organizations in facilitating students’ successful high school completion and increased post-secondary opportunities. We promote “a commitment to excellence…and the full realization of human potential”2 through educational awareness and the development of leadership, personal and social skills.

College Preparation Programs Mission

Establish and maintain relationships with prospective students, parents, and educational institutions inviting ongoing collaboration and participation.
  • Provide grade-specific information, opportunities and resources to help prospective students and their parents become well prepared for postsecondary opportunities
  • Discuss ways to address current challenges and needs of prospective students, parents, and educational institutions
  • Maintain contact with students and provide additional information and opportunities for future educational events

Each MSS college preparation program builds on the other and ultimately is intended to help students prepare and qualify for college. Xpeditions, Foundations and Connections are free programs and there are no limits to the numbers who attend. However, 11th grade students must apply and qualify to be admitted to SOAR. For the students who attend Xpeditions, Foundations and Connections, and who meet the minimum qualifications to attend SOAR, they will be given stronger consideration when we evaluate and admit students to SOAR.
